Councilman Hilbert congratulates VCU for winning the 2011 ESPN “ESPY” Award and thanks Richmond metro area for voting for VCU online
Award announced last night (July 13, 2011) at ESPN Event in Los Angeles, Cal.
WHAT (Richmond, Virginia U.S.A; July 14, 2011) -- The Honorable Chris A. Hilbert, Councilman, Richmond City Council Northside 3rd District, congratulates the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Men’s Basketball Team for winning the ESPN (Sports TV Channel) 2011 “ESPY” Award for “Best Upset.”
VCU’s nod was for their 2011 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament win over the University of Kansas (1st seed), on March 27, 2011 (score 71-61), which placed the 11th seed VCU Men’s Basketball Team in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four Tournament for the first time. The award was announced Wednesday Night (July 13, 2011) at an ESPN Event in Los Angeles, California.
Councilman Hilbert also thanks all Richmond-area citizens, officials and companies for voting online for them to win the ESPN award.
