Richmond City Council wishes everyone a safe, happy and healthy Thanksgiving Holiday

WHAT (Richmond, Virginia U.S.A.) -- Richmond City Council wishes all Richmond Families a safe, happy and healthy Thanksgiving Holiday on Thursday, November 22, 2012.

As we take time to enjoy and celebrate the bounty of what life has provided us, Richmond City Council invites and encourages all Richmond families to join together in reaching out and sharing good wishes with all their neighbors, family and friends during this time and throughout the year.

Established in Virginia on December 4, 1619, the first Thanksgiving was held by members of the first permanent English colonizers in North America at Berkley Plantation in present-day Charles City County. On behalf of all Americans and in memory of that first Thanksgiving, President George Washington issued the first Thanksgiving proclamation in 1789.
