Councilwoman Ellen F. Robertson to
hold “Highland Park Demands the Promised Community – A Call to Action Rally”
All Highland Park Neighborhood community residents,
parents and community partners are invited and encouraged to attend.
WHAT (Richmond, Virginia U.S.A.) - The
Honorable Ellen F. Robertson, Councilwoman, Richmond City Council, Richmond Gateway
6th Voter District, will hold a “Highland
Park Demands the Promised Community – A Call to Action Rally.” All Highland
Park Neighborhood Community residents, parents and community partners are
invited and encouraged to attend.
“The
City promised a new 400-home mixed-income community with gardens, trails, new
pre-school, a new fifth grade elementary school, and a government community
resources service center,” says Councilwoman Ellen F. Robertson. “Highland
Park, your promised community is not happening and your community development
money is threatened to be taken out of the City Government Budget.”
“I’m
calling on the entire community to come take actions now! Time is not on our
side,” says Councilwoman Robertson. “We need a Citizen Action Team Mobilization
Strategy to protect our promised community.”
“Actions
include:
1.
Protect Highland Park Neighborhood
Community budget to build a new Richmond Public Schools Overby-Sheppard
Elementary School with a plan for excellence in academic achievements.
2.
Complete Cannon Creek Trail and pave
Richmond Henrico Turnpike.
3.
Complete master plan and construction of
300 additional homes.
4.
Relocate back flows and trash receptors
from front yards and install back yard access and storage space.
5.
Landscape Highland Grove and include
areas for children to play,”
says Councilwoman Ellen F.
Robertson.
“This is
a rally call for residents, parents and community partners to take action and
protect our community. Show up or lose your community,” says Councilwoman Robertson.
