A statement from
Richmond City Council
Regarding
the passing of The Honorable Eugene A. Mason, Jr.
Richmond, Virginia U.S.A. -
“Richmond City Council joins with the family and friends of The Honorable
Eugene A. Mason, Jr., who passed from this life on Monday, August 12, 2019, in
honoring and celebrating his life, legacy, and service to our community.
Known
throughout the community as a kind and incredibly thoughtful man, The Honorable Eugene A. Mason, Jr. dutifully served one
two-year term as a member of the Richmond City Council from January 1,
2005 to December 31, 2006, representing residents
living in the Richmond South Central 9th Voter District. And, he also served
multiple terms as a Trustee on the Richmond Public Schools Board of Trustees,
from 1994 to 2004.
The Honorable Eugene A. Mason, Jr. led a life of meaning and
dedication as a community leader and will long be remembered by those who knew,
loved, and cared about him.
In remembrance, Richmond City Council recognizes and thanks
Mr. Mason for his work, service, and commitment on behalf of Richmond
residents.
The Richmond City Council hopes that time and the fond
memories held by
Mr. Mason's family and
friends will help lessen the sorrow of his passing and will bring them peace
and comfort now and in the days ahead."
