UPDATE: Notice of Public Comment
Richmond residents invited and encouraged to review and provide
public comment on proposed changes to three Richmond Polling (Voting) Precinct
Places/Locations (603, 909, and 910)
- One proposed change (Precinct 909) to remain/revert
back to current site
Richmond, Virginia – On Monday, April 22, 2024, two proposed Richmond
City Council Ordinances, (Ord.
No. 2024-126
and
Ord.
No. 2024-127),
were
introduced during the Richmond City Council Formal Meeting. These proposed Ordinances would change three current Richmond Polling
(Voting) Precinct Places/Locations, 603, 909, and 910.
After the introduction of proposed Ord.
No. 2024-127, the proposed new location for Richmond
Polling Precinct Place 909, located in the Richmond South Central 9th
Voter District, withdrew its site for consideration as a polling location.
It is therefore anticipated that Council will
recommend the proposed legislation be amended and for Precinct 909 to revert back
and remain at its current location, at Richmond Public Schools - Elizabeth D.
Redd Elementary School, 5601 Jahnke Road. The expected timeline would be as
follows:
·
The recommendation amending proposed Ord.
No. 2024-127, would likely happen during the Richmond City Council Governmental Operations
Standing Committee Meeting on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 1:00-2:30 p.m., already scheduled to include Public
Comments on the proposed updates.
·
Amendment to proposed Ord.
No. 2024-127, to be introduced during Richmond
City Council Formal Meeting, on Monday, June 10, 2024
·
The proposed
updates would then be anticipatorily on schedule for more in-person Public
Comment and final decision to be held during the Richmond City Council Formal Meeting, on
Monday, June 24, 2024; 6:00-8:00 p.m. Note: It was
earlier anticipated this would take place during the Richmond City Council
Formal Meeting on June 10, 2024.
Interested persons may also present their views by
teleconference/ videoconference via Microsoft Teams. To take advantage of this
option, individuals must do so prior to 10:00 a.m. on the meeting date, by
calling the Office of the City Clerk at 804.646.7955 and selecting option 3, to
register.
The anticipated amendment
would not affect the other two proposed changes to polling locations, which
includes one proposed change is in the Richmond Gateway 6th
Voter District and one in in the Richmond South Central 9th Voter
District, as follows:
