Councilwoman Robertson & Mayor Stoney to celebrate honorary street block named for Mr. Raymond H. Boone

Community invited and encouraged to attend
         
WHAT         Richmond, Virginia - The Honorable Ellen F. Robertson, Councilwoman, Richmond City Council, Richmond Gateway 6th Voter District;
                       The Honorable Levar M. Stoney, Mayor of Richmond; and, the Family of Raymond H. Boone, will hold a special celebration regarding the honorary designation of the 100 block of North 5th Street in Richmond, Virginia, named on behalf of Mr. Raymond H. Boone (February 2, 1938 - June 3, 2014), which was adopted by Richmond City Council Ordinance #2016-244 on September 26, 2016. The designated area is located in the Richmond Gateway 6th Voter District. This is a free event and the community is invited and encouraged to attend.

                                                                                                                 The highly distinguished city recognition and designation memorializes Mr. Boone's contributions to the civic well-being of Richmond as an advocate for equality and freedom of the press. Mr. Boone founded the Richmond Free Press newspaper in 1992.
