Planned Richmond Real Estate Database and Appraisal Software System upgrade nearing completion

Residents and contractors asked to submit transfers, creations of new parcels (divided lots, new subdivisions), etc. before November 8, 2024

(Richmond, Virginia U.S.A. 9.13.2024) The Richmond City Council Office of Assessor of Real Estate is nearing completion of its planned upgrade and replacement of the Richmond Real Estate Database and Appraisal System software system to further enhance and increase efficiency.

    The upgrade is scheduled to go live at the end of this calendar year (2024) and will include a switchover period beginning November 8, and ending December 22, 2024. To minimize service impact, the switchover period has been scheduled during the city billing timeframe when updates to the Richmond Real Estate Parcel Mapper component of the database are typically paused.

    In anticipation, Richmond residents, contractors, etc. are asked and reminded to please submit, before November 8, 2024, any planned, known, anticipated, etc. Richmond Real Estate parcel related:

·       - changes

·       - updates

·      - transfers

·     - improvements

·     - permits

·       -creations of new parcels (divided lots, new subdivisions, etc.),

·       -renovations

·       -upgrades

·       -water and gas accounts

·       -etc.

    No Richmond Real Estate transfers, improvements, or new parcels will be created beginning November 8, 2024, and ending December 22, 2024.

    Inputs and updates the Richmond Real Estate Database and Appraisal System, including those during the switchover period, are scheduled to be live by January 15, 2025.

Background

The Richmond Real Estate Database and Appraisal System is the official source of ownership of Richmond Real Estate parcels and the appraisal process in providing continuity, consistency, transparency, and trust on behalf of Richmond residents.

    The Richmond Real Estate Database and Appraisal System includes only real estate parcels located within the city boundaries of Richmond, Virginia. Richmond Real Estate does not include real estate located in surrounding towns, cities, or counties.

    All Richmond real estate owners are invited and encouraged to review their property’s current assessed value, at: https://apps.richmondgov.com/applications/propertysearch/

Richmond City Council Office of Assessor of Real Estate

·       The Richmond City Council Office of Assessor of Real Estate oversees the

-   annual reassessment of Richmond real estate,

-   real estate tax exemption process, and

-   management and maintenance of the Richmond Real Estate Database.

·       Each year, the Richmond Office of Assessor of Real Estate follows state law and, using defined national standards, carefully and equitably assesses/ reassesses (evaluates and calculates) the market value of real estate in Richmond.
