Richmond City Council recognizes Gov. Wilder, approves multiple efforts eliminating traffic deaths, and approves replacing two bridges

Recognized The Honorable L. Douglas Wilder

Richmond City Council and Mayor Danny Avula recognized, honored, and wished a happy 95th Birthday to The Honorable L. Douglas Wilder; Governor, Lt. Governor, State Senator, Mayor.

 

Approved Pedestrian and Traffic Safety Initiatives: Eliminating Traffic Deaths

Council approved multiple grant programs with the U.S. Department of Transportation, Virginia Department of Transportation, and Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation on behalf of Vision Zero Traffic Safety programs and initiatives to eliminate traffic deaths in Richmond.

 

Increased Funding for Opioid Recovery and Support Programs

Council adopted multiple Ordinances funding opioid recovery and support.

 

Increased Funding for Green Spaces: Gillies Creek Greenway

Council approved grant funding for Gillies Creek Greenway Phase IV.

 

Approved Two Bridge Replacements

Council approved bridge replacements: East Richmond Road Over Stony Run and Gilles Creek bridges.

 

Approved Special Use Permits

Council approved numerous Special Use Permit Ordinances for properties in the city.
