Councilman Parker C. Agelasto invites everyone to volunteer during HandsOn Day 2014: Nearly 60 volunteer projects being held this Saturday

1,300 expected to volunteer: All invited and encouraged to come out and help

WHAT         (Richmond, Virginia U.S.A.) – Celebrating his second year participating, The Honorable Parker C. Agelasto, Councilman, Richmond City Council, Richmond Central 5th Voter District, invites and encourages everyone to volunteer on Saturday (9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m.) during HandsOn Day 2014.

                              HandsOn Day 2014 includes nearly 60 separate projects being held by various organizations, entities and individuals in Richmond and the surrounding area for which volunteers are needed. It is estimated that nearly 1,300 people will be participating and the day’s events will conclude with a large celebration that will bring everyone together.

                               Some important projects being performed in the Richmond Central 5th Voter District include:  

·      Councilman Parker Agelasto’s Byrd Park Cleanup

·      Rebuilding Together Richmond is partnering with UPS to perform repairs on the home of a senior resident living in the Swansboro Neighborhood

·      Area 10 Faith Community is helping Richmond Public Schools John B. Cary Elementary School

·      William Byrd Community House is working in its garden

·      James River Association is working to clean up along the James River

                              Led by local nonprofit HandsOn Greater Richmond, HandsOn Day is a coordinated effort that establishes a time each year to focus energy and communication around community service projects and maximize volunteer participation. HandsOn Greater Richmond serves throughout the year as a one-stop-shopping conduit for volunteer opportunities within the Greater Richmond region; enabling entities to register projects and volunteers to select among those available.
