Richmond City Council welcomes Saitama, Japan for annual Junior Baseball Exchange

Celebrating friendships, families, games and cultural exchange

WHAT            (Richmond, Virginia U.S.A.) - Richmond City Council will officially welcome the City of Saitama, Japan to Richmond for its annual week-long Richmond-Saitama Junior Baseball Exchange.

                              The welcome will include the Saitama, Japan Junior Baseball Team leaders, coaches, staff, members and parents from the City of Saitama, Japan. A tour of the city and baseball games will follow the welcome, with events continuing throughout the week.

                              The exchange is part of the ongoing Richmond City Council Sister Cities Commission relationship with Saitama, Japan that began hosting a baseball exchange with Saitama in Richmond in 1994. The exchange rotates each year from Richmond to Saitama (not being held in 2011 due to the tragic earthquake and tsunami that severely impacted Japan).

                        During their visit, the team will enjoy educational tours and cultural activities and will play games with local little league baseball teams.
