Regarding the passing of The Honorable Roy A. West, former Richmond City Council Councilmember and Mayor of Richmond
           
Richmond, Virginia U.S.A. - “Today, as we lay Mayor Roy A. West to eternal rest, the heartfelt condolences of all members of the Richmond City Council go out to his family and friends as we join in mourning his passing, and in honoring, celebrating, and remembering his life and legacy.

     From his many years of dedicated service on Richmond City Council as a Councilmember and as Mayor of Richmond, to his work for Richmond Public Schools and in the community, Mr. West was a prominent and committed civic leader in our city, and will long be remembered by all who knew, loved, and cared about him. 

        In America, public, elected, and community service are considered to be among the most important and noble work a person can do and, through his outstanding example, Mayor Roy A. West proved his dedication to and support of the principles and creed written into the founding documents of our great Nation, in that our individual destinies and that of our families, communities, city, state, and country include not only the aspiration of our federal constitutional republic but, the time, talent, investment, labor, and dedication of all of its residents in realizing the fulfillment of its promise.

        The Richmond City Council hopes that time and the memories Mayor West's family and friends have of him will help lessen the sorrow and bring them peace and comfort now and in the days ahead."

Councilman Agelasto to hold Honorary Street Naming Designation Unveiling Ceremony for Mr. Percy J. Minor, Sr.
         
WHAT          Richmond, Virginia - The Honorable Parker C. Agelasto, Councilman, Richmond City Council, Richmond Central 5th Voter District, will hold an Honorary Street Naming Designation Unveiling Ceremony commemorating the designation of the 2400 block of Bainbridge Street in Richmond, Virginia, on behalf of Mr. Percy J. Minor, Sr. This event was rescheduled from Saturday, December 15, 2018, due to inclement weather.

                          This honorary street naming designation was established by Richmond City Council Ordinance #2018-178, which was adopted on June 25, 2018.

      Immediately following the ceremony, volunteers will launch a Neighborhood Community Cleanup in Mr. Minor’s Swansboro Neighborhood. The Cleanup is scheduled to take place from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. All are welcome to join in.

WHAT           Richmond, Virginia - The Honorable Ellen F. Robertson, Councilwoman, Richmond City Council, Richmond Gateway 6th Voter District, is co-hosting a meeting with the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) to present the proposed Highland Grove Preliminary Community Unit Plan for the development of 155 single-family dwelling units on 40 acres of land, located at 2651 and 2641 Richmond-Henrico Turnpike, 500 and 509 Dove Street, and 2300 1st Avenue. The public is invited to attend and provide input, voices, and ideas regarding this proposed community housing development.
