Councilman Bruce W. Tyler invites residents to second Richmond Libbie, Grove and Patterson Avenue Planning Study - Community Meeting

All citizens invited and encouraged to attend

WHAT The Honorable Bruce W. Tyler, Councilman, Richmond City Council, West End 1st District, invites all citizens to the second Richmond Libbie, Grove and Patterson Avenue Planning Study - Community Meeting that is being performed by the Richmond Department of Planning and Review. The meeting is free and all citizens are invited and encouraged to attend.

This community public meeting is the second one to be held for residents to identify key issues and share ideas that will help guide the Richmond Libbie, Grove and Patterson Avenue Planning Study as it proceeds.

On Saturday, March 26, 2011, a Kickoff Meeting was held to begin the discussion regarding future land use, design and infrastructure improvements for the Libbie, Grove and Patterson Avenue Area. The meeting was well attended and participants provided input through surveys, open discussions and a hand-on mapping exercise. Examples of best practices and success stories of other cities and neighborhoods were also discussed.

In response to the successful meeting, the following components will be included in the upcoming meeting:

• Summary/overview of community ideas and suggestions provided at Kickoff Meeting;

• Presentation of possible changes to the existing Richmond Master Plan Land Use classifications for portions of the study area;

• Community questions and answers and opportunity to provide additional ideas and suggestions; and,

• Community discussion of any needed Richmond Master Plan Land Use amendments and/or additional planning efforts

The Richmond Libbie/Grove/ Patterson Planning Study area includes the area generally bounded by Bromley Lane to the north, Grove Avenue to the south, Maple Avenue to the west, and Willow Lawn Drive to the east. The area has been surveyed to identify current conditions, such as land use, walkability and parking.
