WHAT
(Richmond,
Virginia U.S.A.) – Richmond City Council reminds residents of the date
and time changes (beginning this month, through December 31, 2014) for upcoming
Richmond City Council Informal and Formal meetings (listed below). Of note: Richmond
City Council Informal meetings will start at 5:00 p.m. (instead of 3:00 p.m.)
and there will be only one Formal and Informal meeting (rather than two) being
held during the months of June, July, September, November and December. Council
may also add additional Formal or Informal meetings if necessary/as needed. Council
Formal and Informal meetings are in addition to the six Richmond City Council
Standing Committee Meetings typically held each month. These meetings are free

Richmond City
Council Formal and Informal meetings are held in Richmond City Council
Chambers, which is located on the second floor of Richmond City Hall, 900 E. Broad Street, Richmond, Virginia 23219.
In
Richmond’s Council-Mayor form of government, our
city is organized into nine geo-demographic Richmond Voter Districts (listed
below). We use these districts to elect members of Richmond City Council (the governing body of
Richmond); a Mayor At-Large; and, members of the Richmond Public Schools Board of
Trustees who govern Richmond Public Schools which, while managed locally, is a
division of the state.
Richmond City Council members represent residents
by Richmond Voter District in creating and amending
local laws, providing government policy and oversight, and approving the Richmond Government Budget.
Richmond
residents are invited and encouraged to contact the Councilmember representing
them (by
phone, in person, via email, or mail) to provide input and/or ask questions regarding
the creation and amending of local
laws, government policy and oversight, and the Richmond Government Budget.
